How to Get a Medical Cannabis Card in Maryland
Qualifying for a Maryland medical marijuana card is quick, simple and can be done more easily, thanks to Leafwell and The Medical Cannabis Community.
We’ve outlined below the steps for you to speak to and a Maryland-licensed physician and get your medical cannabis certificate. You’re only billed if approved and once you get it, you’ll be able to shop at any Maryland dispensary and buy your medicine.
1. Find Out if You Qualify
A doctor licensed to practice in Maryland may certify patients for any of the following conditions listed, or those they believe may benefit from medical cannabis
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Severe or Chronic Pain
- Severe Nausea
- Severe or Persistent Muscle Spams
- Wasting Syndrome
- Any other chronic medical condition which is severe and for which other treatments have been ineffective.
2. Register For The Medical Cannabis Card in Maryland
Register with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission
To prepare for a medical cannabis card registration, please review the Process Overview and Quick Reference Card. Minor patients are required to have at least one caregiver assigned to their accounts at all times. Only parents or legal guardians 21 years of age and older are eligible to serve as caregivers for minor patients.
Speak With a Physician
Once registered, patients must obtain a valid written certification from a provider registered with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission. The patient is required by law to have a bona fide provider-patient relationship with the provider and the provider must approve medical cannabis as a treatment option for the patient for a qualifying medical condition.
The Medical Cannabis Community and Leafwell make connecting patients to physicians easier, and you can get a Maryland medical marijuana card in almost no time at all. No appointment is required.
Once you’re ready to proceed, register online with Leafwell and speak to a friendly physician. Upon approval, you will be able to instantly download your doctor’s medical cannabis certificate, which is sent to you via email.
After registering, obtaining a valid written certification from a registered provider, and printing a temporary MMCC Patient ID card, patients are able to visit licensed Maryland dispensaries to purchase medical cannabis.
